How to Make a Spellbook!
After spotting some book shaped storage boxes, I decided I wanted to create something with them.
Spellbooks! Which would also look good on display in my lounge - I like dark Gothic inspired decor.
I covered the books in tissue paper and Mod Podge. Waited till dry, then lightly sprayed in black. Once this was dry, I dabbed brown paint all over. In the meantime, I drew the lettering on to black funky foam and cut out. I used a chip board frame for the centre and painted gold.
I edged the books with self adhesive cotton lace borders, also painted brown and gold. The lace borders had lovely flourishes which I cut and used for spine decoration. Adding keys and part of an old necklace to the spine as well. I had a pack of cute little spell bottles which I added to the inner frame on the front. I finished off by finely painting over the creases which the tissue paper made, in gold, giving it that old vintage look. They now store crafty bit n bobs!
